[07:59]<+camerongray> Hey ChanbotVII
[07:59]<+camerongray> GRR!
[07:59]<@Calum> haha
[07:59]<+camerongray> Calum*
[07:59]<@BC_Programming> well you tried cam
[07:59]<+camerongray> I should just turn that off!
[07:59]<@BC_Programming> you gave it your all
[07:59]<@Calum> I always wait for him to say it
[07:59]<+camerongray> Or just type Ca-TAB
[07:59]<@BC_Programming> like clockwork
[07:59]<+camerongray> lol
[08:01]<+camerongray> How's everyhting?
[08:02]<@Calum> Pretty good thanks, apart from the weather...you?
[08:02]<+camerongray> Doing good
[08:02]<+camerongray> Super busy with work though :P
[08:03]<@Calum> Yeah?
[08:03]<+camerongray> Client wants a report done by the end of Monday that would usually take a week :P
[08:03]<@Calum> Ah right
[08:11]<@Calum> hehe
[08:12]<@jacky> Calum: good morning (afternoon)
[08:12]<@jacky> :)
[08:12]<@BC_Programming> chanbot is happy he was acknowledged
[08:12]<@Calum> jacky: good afternoon (morning) :)
[08:12]<@jacky> BC_Programming: Hello
[08:12]<@BC_Programming> jacky: hello
[08:13]<+camerongray> hehehe, hey jacky
[08:14]<@jacky> camerongray: Hello
[08:15]<@BC_Programming> I was tempted to do the "greet jacky last" thing but I don't think the time has elapsed for that to be funny again
[08:15]<@Calum> man this is irritating...I don't have another SATA USB enclosure, so to get stuff from my external HDD to my backup drive, I'm having to copy it to my SSD, then swap drives and copy it to the backup drive. Taking forever...how I wish USB3 had been invented earlier!
[08:16]<@BC_Programming> Oh yeah? well I don't have any SATA USB Enclosures!
[08:16]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, I need to get a proper SATA to USB adapter
[08:16]<@Calum> then you have no problem BC, right? :)
[08:16]<@BC_Programming> I have two IDE Enclosures and a third that is supposed to be for a Optical Drive
[08:16]<@BC_Programming> I have no idea why I bought the third one
[08:16]<+camerongray> I currently just have one pulled from an old WD elements drive, it's both mains powered and super sloe!
[08:16]<@jacky> BC_Programming: whew... and not enough time has passed for me to recovery, either.
[08:16]<+camerongray> slow*
[08:17]<@BC_Programming> I have a stackable Ultra and an ADS Tech enclosure
[08:17]<@Calum> camerongray: mine is one of those where the drive is exposed, standing upright, so you can swap drives out, which is nice. It's USB3, but my laptop isn't
[08:17]<+camerongray> Ahh, nice
[08:17]<@Calum> I have an IDE enclosure I created from an old USB HDD
[08:17]<@Calum> ah!
[08:17]<@BC_Programming> for a time I had this shoddily built thing where I installed the circuitry and used two drives with the one USB Enclosure
[08:17]<@Calum> maybe I do have another SATA thingy
[08:17]<@Calum> hmm, time to go diving in the infamous corner
[08:18]<@BC_Programming> I guess that is one advantage a IDE enclosure has, in that you can sometimes get away with a master and a slave on the controller
[08:19]<@BC_Programming> and every time I talk about IDE I can't help but feel it is like some sort of BDSM
[08:19]<+camerongray> lol
[08:20]<@Calum> on second thoughts looking for the USB bridge I think I have will probably take longer than copying everything twice
[08:20]<@BC_Programming> oh here's something... odd... that happened earlier
[08:20]<@BC_Programming> I went to sign in to the MVP Award site, which they appear to have redone
[08:21]<@BC_Programming> and it said my passcode wasn't valid; so I did the "forgot passcode" thing and got another
[08:21]<@BC_Programming> then when I logged in, it started to take me through the first steps that I did when I was first awarded... but it referred to the 2013 award
[08:21]<+camerongray> Hmm, that could be a good sign :P
[08:21]<+camerongray> Or a broken website!
[08:21]<@BC_Programming> I got to the step where I would get another MSDN subscription and decided it was some kind of bug
[08:22]<@BC_Programming> first it was all "congratulations on receiving the 2013 award" and I'm like "uh... ok" then the next page said thanks for returning the hard copy NDA
[08:23] * Calum (Mibbit@mib-679AD198.cable.virginmedia.com) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[08:23] * Calum (Mibbit@mib-679AD198.cable.virginmedia.com) has joined #glitchpc
[08:23] * ChanServ sets mode: +a
[08:23] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Calum
[08:23]<@BC_Programming> then the next step was all "MVP awardees receive a complimentary MSDN or technet subscription" and options to renew my existing subscription and I decided something was bugged and I probably shouldn't try to take advantage
[08:23]<+camerongray> Ahh
[08:23]<@BC_Programming> Arguably, it's possible that I have already gotten the 2013 award in their system and they won't notify me until July 1st
[08:24]<+camerongray> Yeah, that would be good!
[08:24]<@BC_Programming> Oh I remember why I was signing in, I wanted to change my address to specify the basement as part of the address
[08:24]<@Calum> Interesting
[08:24]<+camerongray> This keyboard is going to make my hands super strong :P
[08:24]<@Calum> how much did you pay for it btw?
[08:25]<+camerongray> Tried the Majestouch again - After using the Model M for less than a day I keep bottoming out!
[08:25]<+camerongray> £70 including shipping
[08:25]<@Calum> nice
[08:25]<@BC_Programming> for Calum's sake I'll restate why I would want to specify the basement; I suspect our upstairs neighbors of stealing our packages
[08:25]<+camerongray> Oh, I must get a photo of the box!
[08:25]<@BC_Programming> For a Model M I think I'd probably prefer simply a modern mechanical keyboard
[08:26] * Kevin (Mibbit@mib-DEA9649.dhcp.aldl.mi.charter.com) has joined #glitchpc
[08:26]<@BC_Programming> of course my keyboard isn't mechanical, it's some cheap MS wired 500
[08:26]<@Calum> what switches are most like a model M?
[08:26]<@BC_Programming> half the keys don't have letters anymore lol
[08:26]<@Calum> Blues?
[08:26]<@BC_Programming> no clue
[08:27]<@Calum> I've never used one but I had a go on a (dead) old school mechanical which was probably similar, felt quite like blue switches
[08:27]<+camerongray> Probably blues but the M is a lot heavier!
[08:27]<@Calum> but I have no idea if the M is much different
[08:27]<@BC_Programming> I can live with a rubber dome keyboard, but then again I don't think I've ever really used mechanical
[08:27]<@Calum> ah right
[08:28]<+camerongray> Cherry greens are probably closer
[08:28]<@BC_Programming> Except for my old thinkpad which I'm pretty sure was mechanical, loud as heck
[08:28]<+camerongray> Like my hands are aching a bit after using the M for a while - Just need to get used to it!
[08:28]<@Calum> I'd like to try an M sometime because they've always appealed to me, I do like my blue switches but I might like the heavier feel
[08:28]<+camerongray> I keep bottoming out the blues now!
[08:28]<@BC_Programming> I think there was a later Model M that has the Windows Key and Application Key
[08:28]<+camerongray> And keep not pressing the M hard enough!
[08:29]<@Calum> BC_Programming: would mechanical switches fit in a laptop? Not doubting you, just wondering...and thinking whether they will make a new laptop with a mech keyboard which would be awesome!
[08:29]<@BC_Programming> I use those so w/o would sorta be a dealbreaker
[08:29]<+camerongray> Ahh, this doesn't have the Winkey but under linux it doesn't bother me
[08:29]<@BC_Programming> Calum: I have no clue, kinda which I still had the corpse, I could rip it apart and see
[08:29]<@BC_Programming> wish*
[08:29]<@Calum> can always remap another key to be the Win key if need be
[08:29]<+camerongray> Yeah, like pause
[08:29]<@BC_Programming> Control+Esc
[08:30]<@Calum> I was thinking more for quick combos like Win+D
[08:30]<+camerongray> I wish the old terminal mode m keyboard worked with regular PCs - They have so many function keys!
[08:30]<@BC_Programming> yeah that too
[08:30]<@BC_Programming> could be worse, at least the area is blank
[08:30]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, that could be a pain
[08:30]<@BC_Programming> on my older Satellite, the place where the windows key would be is the Fn key, and the windows key is scrunched up in the top right
[08:31]<+camerongray> It's also cool though how this keyboard was made like 70 miles away!
[08:31]<@Calum> Laptop keyboards are horrible, how fn and alt or ctrl always get swapped
[08:31]<@Calum> I prefer having ctrl in the bottom elft, then fn, then alt
[08:31]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah
[08:31]<@BC_Programming> The thinkpad was very thick, and the keyboard lifted up; I seem to recall it being quite heavy and reasonably thick
[08:31]<@Calum> sorry, win then alt
[08:31]<@BC_Programming> I think I have pictures
[08:31]<+camerongray> I'm used to it the other way on my thinkpad
[08:31]<@BC_Programming> yes I'm strange I take pictures of my laptops
[08:32]<@BC_Programming> like a crazy cat lady but with laptops
[08:32]<+camerongray> At least they packaged it well! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EOxZp6VUm8s/UcW0W2yrlNI/AAAAAAAAAfo/iEJMDa5WyU4/w1355-h1016-no/IMG_20130622_152658.jpg
[08:32]<@Calum> camerongray: I was used to it on my old one, but I've only used HP for the last year or so (mine, gf's and work) so I'm used to it this way round now
[08:32]<@Calum> wow, that's a big box
[08:32]<+camerongray> Wait, what did I say?
[08:32]<@Calum> I think it's your link
[08:32]<+camerongray> Oh yeah
[08:33]<+camerongray> I read it as swering :P
[08:33]<+camerongray> swearing*
[08:33]<@Calum> haha
[08:33]<+camerongray> x230 on top for comparison
[08:33]<@Calum> nobody said cocktail this time
[08:33]<+camerongray> That's a 17" monitor on the right!
[08:33]<@Calum> impressive
[08:33]<+camerongray> Better that than wrapped in christmas paper :P
[08:34]<@Calum> very true
[08:34]<@BC_Programming> :O
[08:34]<@BC_Programming> wow
[08:34]<@BC_Programming> this SD card has a lot of pictures
[08:34]<@BC_Programming> goes back to 2009
[08:35]<@jacky> the had pictures back then?
[08:35]<@jacky> they*
[08:35]<@BC_Programming> some nice pictures from when we were living on the lake
[08:35]<+camerongray> Hmm, I wonder when I actually last used my compact camera
[08:35]<@Calum> cool
[08:36]<@BC_Programming> I remember every morning around 10 a guy went to work. the reason everybody on the lake knew was because he drove a plane to work
[08:36]<@Calum> haha
[08:36]<+camerongray> Answer, almost exactly a year ago to the day
[08:37]<@jacky> see you all later ....
[08:37]<@jacky>
[08:37]<+camerongray> Photos from my school prom, should probably get them stored somewhere safe :P
[08:37] * jacky (the_kink@mib-420AA666.slsbmd.east.verizon.net) has left #glitchpc
[08:37]<+camerongray> I suppose that makes sense, I super fell out with my camera there :P
[08:37]<@BC_Programming> pictures from when I originally built this desktop
[08:38]<@Calum> I have exactly one photo from mine...it's of me being practically forced into the car looking really unhappy hah
[08:38]<+camerongray> hehehe - I took loads
[08:38]<@BC_Programming> pictures from where I used to work "documenting" stupid crap I found
[08:38]<+camerongray> But my camera thought it knew better! "Oh, your wearing a black jacket - It would look so much better blue"
[08:38]<@Calum> hah
[08:39]<+camerongray> There are some of them on facebook - Look ridiculous!
[08:39]<@Calum> I remember I went to Scotland, lots of awesome photo opportunities, took some amazing shots - then it turned out when I got home that on the second day it had stopped focusing on anything so I had like 5 photos that were any good :(
[08:39]<+camerongray> Ouch!
[08:39]<@Calum> that was a terrible camera though in fairness
[08:39]<+camerongray> Didn't do it without the flash but it was dark so needed it
[08:39]<@Calum> ah
[08:40]<+camerongray> Especially bow ties, likes making them violet!
[08:40]<@BC_Programming> heh uploading with my neighbors wifi
[08:40]<@BC_Programming> that'll teach them to possibly steal packages
[08:40]<+camerongray> lol
[08:40]<@Calum> haha
[08:40]<+camerongray> I think it's whatever that smooth, shiny fabric is
[08:41]<+camerongray> Matte stuff seems okay
[08:41]<@BC_Programming> their first mistake was getting me to fix their laptop; "Hello saved WLAN passwords"
[08:41]<+camerongray> heheeh
[08:41]<@BC_Programming> Their SECOND mistake was paying me 16 lousy dollars for three hours of cleaning it of malware
[08:42]<@Calum> wait what....why does this HDD think the root folder is a photo album? How silly
[08:42]<+camerongray> Oh that's my camera's other trick - Makes light stupidly bright!
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> it's a bueat
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> http://bc-programming.com/images/thinkpad/thinkpad1.JPG
[08:43]<@Calum> nice
[08:43]<@Calum> what vintage is that?
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> 1994, 755CDV
[08:43]<+camerongray> Wow! I was looking for one of them!
[08:43]<@BC_Programming> I had two
[08:44]<+camerongray> Couldn't find them anywhere for anything that was at all reasonable!
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> well that one and then a second one when the first one stopped working, got a second for 20 bucks online
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> a 755CDV?
[08:44]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> why?
[08:44]<+camerongray> Well, 755 something
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> yeah
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> that one in particular was like the upgraded version
[08:44]<@BC_Programming> Pentium 75Mhz instead of a 486 if I recall
[08:44]<+camerongray> Out of interest, where was yours made?
[08:45]<@BC_Programming> I don't know
[08:45]<@BC_Programming> I'd tell you but I threw it away
[08:45]<+camerongray> Ahh :(
[08:45]<@BC_Programming> well it stopped working
[08:45]<@BC_Programming> think I talked about that mysterious and also hilarious errors
[08:45]<+camerongray> Ahh, that's fine then
[08:45]<@BC_Programming> "Divide Error" just trying to boot a plain DOS floppy
[08:46]<+camerongray> They used to make a lot of them over here, would be cool to find one!
[08:46]<@BC_Programming> It could almost play Duke Nukem 3D
[08:46]<@BC_Programming> I mostly used it for DOS and Windows 3.1 stuff, so it wasn't very often really
[08:47]<@BC_Programming> the hard drive was only formatted once though, pretty good track record for FAT16, to go from 1994 to 2012
[08:47]<+camerongray> Ahh, I wouldn't really use it for anything, just cool to have!
[08:47]<@BC_Programming> magnesium case I think
[08:47]<+camerongray> Same with my model m, loads available but I wanted one made here!
[08:47]<@BC_Programming> I still have the manual for the 755CDV lol
[08:48]<@BC_Programming> I even have the receipt somewhere
[08:48]<@BC_Programming> 8 grand!
[08:48]<+camerongray> You know, us Scots being great at making high quality things, not being lazy and cutting corners :P
[08:48]<+camerongray> Model m seems well made though :P
[08:48]<@Calum> 8 grand, wow
[08:49]<@BC_Programming> now I want to find the receipt and take a pic of it lol
[08:49]<+camerongray> lol
[08:49]<+camerongray> I'd also like to find a PS/2 - Made them here :P
[08:50]<@Calum> whatever floats your boat I guess
[08:50]<+camerongray> hehehe
[08:50]<@BC_Programming> I might have tossed it, oh well
[08:50]<+camerongray> Don't have space for one annoyingly
[08:51]<@BC_Programming> I could be like my grandmother lol... after she died we found shopping receipts from the 70's
[08:51]<+camerongray> I'll need to dig out my old Ambra and see where that was made, Ambra was part of IBM and it's from 1992 so you never know
[08:51]<@Calum> I have a Cherry mechanical that may have been made in Scotland or I may be making that part up, which you could buy (I'm skint)
[08:51]<+camerongray> hehehe
[08:52]<+camerongray> Nothing is really made here anymore :P
[08:52]<@Calum> I could put a "made in Scotland, aye" sticker on it for you
[08:52]<+camerongray> hehehe
[08:52]<+camerongray> Well, obviously, too expensive to make stuff here!
[08:52]<@Calum> with all the whiskey they have to give the workers to prevent riots
[08:52]<+camerongray> Well, we still do Irn Bru, shortbread, whiskey :P
[08:52]<+camerongray> lol!
[08:53]<@Calum> on a slightly different topic, you know what nobody makes any more?
[08:53]<@Calum> glass mousepads
[08:53]<@BC_Programming> I imagine because they don't work very well with optical mice
[08:53]<@Calum> mine does
[08:53]<+camerongray> Hmm, nice!
[08:53]<+camerongray> I want to get one of those really big ones
[08:53]<@Calum> it's now, hm....7 years old
[08:53]<@BC_Programming> I can't even use mine on this desk, acts all jerky and weird
[08:54]<@Calum> but it's now irreplaceable, apparently
[08:54]<@BC_Programming> of course it would be nice to test out the mouse I possibly won grrr
[08:54]<@Calum> possibly won?
[08:54]<+camerongray> The issue I have is that my desk has a stupid pull out keyboard tray - Have to have the mouse and model m almost overhanging!
[08:54]<@BC_Programming> well I won a prize from an MS contest involving affiliate links
[08:54]<+camerongray> The foot for the keyboard is on the metal runner!
[08:54]<@BC_Programming> so they sent it to me, Fedex lists it as delivered... don't know where it is
[08:55]<@Calum> camerongray: time for a new desk! keyboard trays are soooo 90's! lol
[08:55]<+camerongray> Yeah
[08:55]<+camerongray> Getting a new one for the flat
[08:55]<@BC_Programming> only thing I can think is either they plonked it somewhere non-obvious or the upstairs neighbors decided "hey free stuff"
[08:55]<@Calum> BC_Programming: ah, hence you talking about your neighbour possibly stealing packages?
[08:55]<@BC_Programming> Calum: indeed
[08:55]<@Calum> I see
[08:55]<@BC_Programming> personally I want to eliminate all other possibilities before making any accusations
[08:55]<+camerongray> This is what I'm thinking about: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S89861208/
[08:55]<@BC_Programming> originally the Fedex tracking said "Signature Proof available" so I figured, you know, they had a signature
[08:56]<@BC_Programming> but apparently, according to the thick-accented Indian I talked to, that also means they put it somewhere inconspicious
[08:56]<@BC_Programming> sadly they did a good job of it if they did since I cannot find it
[08:56]<@Calum> camerongray: yeah, those are nice. Similar to mine but mine was an Ebay special and like £50 heh, Ikea one is bigger than mine though and probably better made
[08:56]<+camerongray> well... it's IKEA :P
[08:56]<@Calum> heh
[08:56]<+camerongray> I'd be surprised if it stood up! :P
[08:57]<@BC_Programming> The prize is either a Mouse, a Keyboard, or a full copy of Office 2013 Pro
[08:57]<@Calum> surely that depends how well you put it together?
[08:57]<@Calum> BC_Programming: ah, nice
[08:57]<+camerongray> lol
[08:57]<+camerongray> Me putting IKEA stuff together involves throwing instructions away, shouting at it and then forcing bits!
[08:58]<@BC_Programming> technically it could be an XBox 360 package but the tracking said it was around a pound so doubt it was that heh
[08:58]<@Calum> we have a tiny little Ikea table which isn't bad, but someone, mentioning no names, decided they could put it together wity no help, so I avoid putting anything on it because it keeps falling to bits because it's quite clearly not done properly
[08:58]<@Calum> *with
[08:58]<@BC_Programming> heh I just noticed the boxes in the background in the pic
[08:59]<@BC_Programming> When we moved in I basically didn't unpack... saved me time three years later when we moved out though
[08:59]<@Calum> heh
[08:59]<@BC_Programming> I was simply forward thinking!
[08:59]<@BC_Programming> that room was huge, and yet somehow I managed to cover the entire floor in crap
[09:00]<@BC_Programming> Then we lost our new kitten in my room, and had to follow the sound of her meows to find her and they made me clean it up lol
[09:00]<@Calum> haha
[09:01]<+camerongray> lol
[09:01]<+camerongray> My room has a couple of piles of stuff
[09:01]<@BC_Programming> my method was put everything in the boxes and put the boxes in a corner
[09:02]<@BC_Programming> though most of the floor was pop bottles and candy wrappers. Never said I was thrifty
[09:02]<@BC_Programming> After a day at work there was nothing like drinking four liters of Pop and a pound of candy
[09:03]<@BC_Programming> good times
[09:09]<+camerongray> hehehe
[09:09]<+camerongray> Sounds worse than me
[09:10]<+camerongray> And I just discovered that poundland sell two 500ml cans of Irn Bru for £1
[09:10]<@BC_Programming> that's sort of why, I cut back my hours
[09:10]<@BC_Programming> because I would always buy junk on the way there and on the way back and it practically offset what I was making lol
[09:11]<@Calum> I know that feeling all too well
[09:12]<@Calum> when I was at OcUK there was a superb sandwich shop not far away, and an amazing pie shop just across the road
[09:12]<@Calum> plus a tempting McDonald's and KFC
[09:12]<@Calum> all just what you want after/in the middle of a long day
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> I remember when I first started working there I would drink soooo much coffee and eat tons of donuts and muffins because they were free to employees
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> took about a month before I was sick of them all
[09:13]<+camerongray> Yeah, same with me
[09:14]<+camerongray> So far, I've had the correct order in KFC once!
[09:14]<+camerongray> "Pepsi with no ice" - That never happens
[09:14]<@BC_Programming> of course I still had one once in a while but I wasn't bringing home like four dozen boxes of the old stock
[09:14]<@Calum> heh
[09:14]<@BC_Programming> I was aghast at how much was just being thrown out
[09:15]<@Calum> it's crazy how much gets thrown away, no matter what kind of shop you work in
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> yeah for the first bit I tried to rescue as much as possible
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> but then my back got sore lol
[09:15]<@Calum> at the convenience store I worked at for my first job - well you can imagine, obviously bread, meat, etc, loads of random stuff
[09:16]<@Calum> at overclockers - graphics cards, cases, fans, heatsinks, watercooling
[09:16]<@Calum> most were damaged beyond repair though but I did "rescue" some useful stuff at times
[09:17]<@Calum> got a 9800GTX+, a case or two, some fans....can't remember if there was anything else
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> in my case it was sad because they were perfectly good donuts
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> and muffins
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> and whatnot
[09:17]<@Calum> yeah
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> I used to bring home SOOO much stuff for my family though :P even after I got sick of donuts
[09:18]<@BC_Programming> "you want one"
[09:18]<@BC_Programming> "considering I can have them pretty much anytime I want at work... not really no"
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> sometimes I would sneak fresh stuff home and overfill the jelly and cream-filled donuts heheh
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> The filling machine is supposed to be on 10? HOW ABOUT 20! It's a SUPER BOSTON CREME
[09:19]<@Calum> heh
[09:20]<@BC_Programming> I remember one time I made smiley faces on the sprinkle donuts
[09:20]<@BC_Programming> and the boss ppl were all "you can't do that, you can't make smiley face donuts"
[09:20]<+camerongray> hehehe
[09:20]<@BC_Programming> so I made them frowny faces
[09:20]<@BC_Programming> They were not amused :P
[09:21]<+camerongray> hahaha!
[09:21]<+camerongray> At work we have "Hog roast thursday"
[09:21]<+camerongray> Basically take a pig, cut it up, put it on a roll
[09:21]<@BC_Programming> but I think they learned a valuable lesson that day- be explicit
[09:23]<+camerongray> hehehe
[09:26]<+camerongray> hehehe, you'll love this!
[09:26]<+camerongray> We discovered that my friend's flat is right next to ours
[09:26]<@BC_Programming> oh no
[09:26]<+camerongray> Lets just say, these are being considered: http://linitx.com/product/mikrotik-routerboard-sxt-lite2-routeros-level-3-with-poe-injector-and-psu/13842
[09:31]<+camerongray> And now we've discovered we are so close we can run ethernet
[09:32]<@Calum> cool
[09:34]<+camerongray> And now we are on topic of running a pair of ethernet cables and load balancing them
[09:56]<@BC_Programming> Fedex just phoned
[09:56]<+camerongray> Oh?
[09:56]<@BC_Programming> They really can't make up their minds, because now they say the package WAS signed for
[09:56]<@BC_Programming> this one actually local; they're going to speak to the courier and see if he remembers specifically what happened
[09:57]<@BC_Programming> and whether they have an actual signature on file, and if so they will forward it to me
[10:01]<@BC_Programming> I was sorta hoping it was one of the places I applied to heh
[10:01]<@Calum> Alright, I need to fill in my tax return, I've been putting it off and I can't really put it off any longer...catch you guys later
[10:01] * Calum (Mibbit@mib-679AD198.cable.virginmedia.com) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[10:02]<@BC_Programming> LIES!

[11:16]<@Calum> Well, that was at the same time easier and harder than expected
[11:17]<@Calum> I have a nagging doubt that I've grossly miscalculated my tax though and may owe the government some money, but as it stands and as I've submitted it, it's a mssive win for me
[11:17]<@BC_Programming> hmm I just had an evil idea
[11:18]<@BC_Programming> get some stickers that say "'77" on them, and affix them to random license plates
[11:18]<@BC_Programming> "Sir you realize your license plates expires 30 years ago"
[11:18]<@BC_Programming> expired*
[11:18]<@Calum> heh
[11:19]<@BC_Programming> "this car is 2 years old"
[11:19]<@BC_Programming> "then you should no better... TIME FOR A FRISKING"
[11:20]<@Calum> any excuse for one of those!
[11:20]<+camerongray> lol, wb
[11:20]<+camerongray> You do crazy things with licence plates :P
[11:20]<@Calum> thanks
[11:20]<+camerongray> Here you have one for life and change a tax disc in the window
[11:21]<@Calum> did I tell you I had my plates stolen the other week?
[11:21]<+camerongray> Oh no
[11:21]<@BC_Programming> another hobby could be purposely mispronouncing words
[11:21]<@Calum> Yeah, when I had to go to work on the sunday to patch in the phones and data, someone took them both lol
[11:21]<@Calum> so I had to drive home with no plates at all
[11:21]<@BC_Programming> "Did you hear what he wrote on is wobsite? you should write about it in a blag post"
[11:22]<@Calum> fortunately I had a spare set, which I replaced because these are badly worn and have water ingress and generally look nasty, so those are on now
[11:22]<@Calum> but yeah it was just weird
[11:22]<@BC_Programming> yeah not sure how it works over there but aren't license plates sort of tied to insurance and the car itself
[11:22]<+camerongray> Shouldn't you report them and get new ones, don't they usually steal them co commit crimes?
[11:23]<@Calum> camerongray: yeah I reported it on the day because I didn't want to just drive home with nothing lol. They gave me a crime number and stuff, and they came round to talk to me about it, but unless they catch someone with the plates they can't really do much, no CCTV or anything
[11:23]<+camerongray> Ahh
[11:24]<@Calum> they said they'd circulate the plates so if they saw anyone they would stop them, but I've passed dozens of police and haven't been stopped so.....
[11:24]<+camerongray> At least if something does happen you have a crime number to show they were stolen
[11:24]<@Calum> they told me to carry my V5 and stuff because if they see me I'll definitely be stopped but that hasn't happened, I live round the corner from a police station
[11:24]<+camerongray> Ahh :P
[11:24]<@Calum> I also passed a police car on my road when I had no plates, and they did nothing, I then parked it over the road from the station for a week and they did nothing
[11:24]<@Calum> so that seems to have worked really well
[11:25]<@BC_Programming> I have a feeling that if I did what I do in Minecraft in real life the authorities would not be pleased
[11:25]<@Calum> thing is, I don't get why they stole the plates - you can get a set online for £15, any registration, without any documents or anything. So why go to the effort of stealing some?
[11:25]<@BC_Programming> pretty sure keeping about 25 people locked up in 1 meter square closets for the last month might raise a few eyebrows
[11:25]<+camerongray> True yeah
[11:26]<@BC_Programming> "I keep them locked up and trade with them occasionally, whats the problem"
[11:26]<@Calum> I'm going with the theory that it was just people being stupid but where I work is really out of the way, not somewhere you would just be passing through and think "ah, I'll steal those for a laugh"
[11:26]<+camerongray> And doing that would mean the original owner wouldn't know!
[11:26]<@Calum> exactly!
[11:26]<+camerongray> We can't even park anywere at work :P
[11:26]<+camerongray> Just stupidly expensive on street
[11:27]<@Calum> I can't normally, all the spaces are allocated for "higher ups" and the street parking is stupidly busy
[11:27]<+camerongray> Ahh
[11:27]<@Calum> it was only because it was a sunday that I drove, I normally get the train and walk
[11:27]<+camerongray> The company behind us has a car park, very fancy cars
[11:27]<+camerongray> Seen an Aston Martin in there before!
[11:28]<@Calum> if I'd only parked near my workplace I would've been covered by CCTV but there were vans and stuff in the way doing the cabinet installation, hence parking down the hill...so many stupid things that added up to make it happen lol
[11:28]<@Calum> oh nice
[11:28]<@Calum> I work in a real dump of a place hah, really grim industrial area
[11:28]<+camerongray> lol, we are in a very posh area
[11:29]<@Calum> all I see are chavved up Corsas and Saxos, and beat up heaps with decimated wheels from driving up kerbs all the time
[11:29]<+camerongray> NOt sure what the company that has the fancy cars does
[11:29]<+camerongray> There's another that does public wifi, keep clogging all the channels!
[11:29]<@Calum> heh

[11:32]<@Calum> slightly random place for it heh

[11:33]<@Calum> that's not bad then
